PURPOSE:To obtain a hydrogen carbonate ion sensor having an ion characteristic stable for a long period of time and excellent selectively to disturbing ions and fast speed of response to ions by providing a barrier layer between an oxidation-reduction function layer and hydrogen carbonate ion selective layer. CONSTITUTION:The hydrogen carbonate ion sensor has an ion sensitive part and measures the ion concn. in a soln. with an electrode potential response. The ion sensitive part is formed by laminating the oxidation-reduction function layer 5, the barrier layer 6 and the hydrogen carbonate ion selecting layer 7 in this order on a conductive substate 1. The barrier layer 6 has the function to prohibit the migration of the materials to constitute the respective layers between the hydrogen carbonate ion selective layer 7 and the oxidation-reduction function layer 5 and to transmit the potential diference generated in the hydrogen carbonate ion selective layer 7 by the contact with the hydrogen carbonate ions and the hydrogen carbonate ions to the oxidation-reduction function layer 5. A high-polymer layer holding an electrolyte liquid or aq. soln. is preferable as the barrier layer 6 and more particularly a gel-like high-polymer layer is more preferable. A PVA is more particularly preferable as the above-mentioned high-polymer. |
