PURPOSE:To quickly release a hot press formed article for precision optical parts from a press die without spoiling the shape and accuracy of the press formed article by providing a vacuum chuck which moves into and out of the press die at the time of parting the press formed article from the press die. CONSTITUTION:The glass formed article 6 for the precision optical parts, etc., is press-formed between an upper die 4 and lower die 5 in the cylindrical die 3 and thereafter, the formed article is cooled. The upper die 4 is then raised and the vacuum chuck 9 made of a stainless steel, etc., is moved in an arrow X1 direction on the groove of a guide 8b provided to apertures 3a, 3b of the die 3 toward the central part of the press die by a pusher 9d. The lower die 5 is then raised and an attraction plate 9c mounted via a bellows 9b of the vacuum chuck 9 is attracted to the glass formed article 6 in contact therewith and is drawn out in an X2 direction in the guide 8c. The vacuum suction is released above a hole 8a provided to the guide 8c so that the formed article is dropped by a chuter 7 into a product storage box.
