PURPOSE:To surely prevent chipping without damaging appearance of a device, by interposing a heat shrinkable resin film between thermosetting intermediate coat and thermosetting top coat. CONSTITUTION:In forming a chipping resistant film to an outer panel of a car, painting works due to a thermosetting primer and thermosetting intermediate coat are respectively performed. A heat shrinkable film comprising an ethylene/butene copolymer resin or a fluorocarbon polymer material such as a vinilydene fluoride polymer of a tetrafluoroethylene/hexafluoropropylene copolymer is laminated to the surface of the intermediate coat film as a chipping preventing film and shrunk thermally. Thereafter, if top coat is applied and baking is performed, the heat shrinkable resin film is concealed by the top coat painting after the completion of painting and, therefore, desired capacity is imparted without damaging the appearance of a device.
