PURPOSE:To make it possible various ignition characteristics with a simple arrangement, by providing more than two spark retardation control signal generating circuits so that the logic AND is taken between control signals obtained from the above- mentioned circuits and an allowable ignition interval signal in order to generate an ignition signal. CONSTITUTION:There is provided an ignition circuit 1 which abruptly changes the primary current of an ignition coil in association with the operation of a primary current control semiconductor switch so that ignition is effected. Further, there is provided an interval signal generating circuit 2 which delivers an allowable ignition interval signal sustained during each allowable ignition interval of an engine, and an ignition inhibiting signal sustained during each ignition inhibiting interval other than the above-mentioned interval. Further, there is provided an ignition signal generating circuit 3 having spark retardation control signal generating circuits 4, 5 which generate spark retardation signals for delaying the rising position in accordance with a rise of the rotational speed of the engine, in accordance with the output of the generating circuit 2, and an ignition signal output circuit 7 which delivers an ignition signal when the logic AND between each spark retardation control signal and the allowable ignition interval signal is established.
