PURPOSE:To prolong tool life and enable highly efficient machining by forming a diamond sintered body or diamond monocrystal body of 1mm or less in thickness and by mounting it on a base metal with the cutting edge section overhanging 0.1mm of more from the base metal. CONSTITUTION:A tip 1 made of a diamond sintered body or artificial diamond monocrystal body of 1mm or less in thickness is formed. This tip 1 is coated with TiC of about five(5) micron meters in thickness by means of CVD(chemical gaseous phase vapour deposition method) to be brazable. In the next step, this tip 1 is brazed to a base metal 2 with a cutting edge overhanging by 0.1mm or more in overhanging quantities (x) and (y). These overhanging quantities serve to prevent the base metal from touching a workpiece even if the tip is weared resulting in the prolongation of tool life.
