Process for producing a knitting needle, in particular the stiff needle end piece of a circular knitting needle

In the production of a knitting needle, the stiff needle end piece is produced by an injection-moulding process and the sprues remaining on the actual needle body in the resulting blank require complicated post-finishing. To save this extra work, it is proposed to design the sprue at the rear needle end and only to introduce the moulding material into the mould from this point. The sprue and, in particular, its attachment point at the needle do not need to be post-finished, because coupling means for connection parts have to be applied at this point in any case, for example a bore, and such a sprue is then removed at the same time.
