PURPOSE:To prevent cracks due to distortion at the time of cutting a chip by linearly arraying plural image sensor chips, partially reducing light receiving elements in each chip and isolating a sensor element closest to the chip end from the chip end. CONSTITUTION:Plural image sensors are linearly arrayed, and light receiving element pitchs including element arrays whose intervals are not constant in each chip are partially reduced, whereby the light receiving element closest to the chip end is separated from the chip end. The titled image sensor is constituted so that a distance(x+y) between the end part of the image sensor chip 11b and the light receiving area closest to said end part in the sensor element 12 becomes 9.5 mum, and the distance(x+y) between the right-hand end part and the light receiving area closest to said end in the sensor element 13 becomes 8.5mum, for instance. Thus cracks due to cutting at the time of producing the image sensor chip 11b can be prevented.
