PURPOSE:To reduce the member of adjusting operation times at the time of a cutter change as well as to improve the productive efficiency of work machining, by making the face width of a butter body almost double that of a work gear, while forming a peripheral groove, little deeper than tooth depth, in the face width center. CONSTITUTION:A shaving cutter 1 is constituted of a cutter body 2 and a peripheral groove 4, and both cutting edge parts 22 and 23 are formed on an outer circumference of the cutter body 2. Face width made up of joining these cutting edge parts 22 and 24 together should be set to almost double over a work gear. Depth in the peripheral groove formed in the center of the face width is made little deeper than tooth depth. With this constitution, supporting that the cutting edge part 22 on one side is broken, no influence is exerted on the cutting edge part 24 on the other so that the cutter 1 is usable in succession. Accordingly, the number of changing time of the cutter 1 is reducible, thus productive efficiency is improved. |
