Sealant compsn. for cable joints and terminations

A method for sealing a joint, termination, etc. in an electric cable comprises applying a sealing compsn. comprising (a) a resinous copolymer of R3SiO0.5 and SiO2 units in which each R is a 1-6C monovalent hydrocarbon gp. and the ratio R3SiO(0.5) to SiO2 units is 0.5:1 to 1.2:1, (b) a polydiorganosiloxane with a viscosity of 0.02 Pa.s to 100 Pa.s at 25 deg. C, in which at least 60% of the total Si-bonded organic substituents are CH3 gps. and any remaining gps. are chosen from phenyl, vinyl, alkoxy, alkoxyalkoxy and hydroxy gps., and (c) a ceramifiable filler, the compsn. being substantially free of a curing agent for one or both of (a) and (b).
