The invention is related to a method for smoothing the actual value in a system consisting of a final controlling element (2) which is supplied with a controlled variable (UA), and a controlled system (4), an actual value (IA2) at the output of the controlled system (4) being composed of an actual useful value (IAG) and a systematic actual ripple value (IAX) caused by the final controlling element (2). In accordance with the invention, the controlling variable (UA, UAL) is subtracted from a manipulated variable (UA1, UA2) generated from the controlling variable (UA) in accordance with the parameters of the final controlling element (2), the difference variable being supplied as remaining disturbance (UAX) to a controlled-system model (8), at the output of which an actual ripple value (IAX) is present which is subtracted from the actual value (IA2), the resultant difference value being the useful actual value (IAG). This provides a smooth actual value (IA2) which is free of amplitude errors and free of phase errors. <IMAGE>
