The invention relates to a device for raising an alternating stripper roller in printing machines, which device can be placed against the forme inking roller and/or the forme damping roller or against the varnishing roller. The object of the invention is to provide a device, which is linked to the machine control and can be switched selectively, for raising the stripper roller arranged between the inking and damping units, it also being possible for the damping unit to be used as a varnishing unit and, in the case of a stoppage, the stripper roller always being raised from the varnishing roller and being raised from the forme damping roller in the case of inks which are sensitive to damping medium. According to the invention, this is achieved in that a bar extending in the transverse direction is mounted on the lever which is pivotable about the centre-point of the ink distributing cylinder, and a bearing block receiving a double lever is attached to the side wall, one end of said bearing block being connected in an articulated manner via a coupler to an operating cylinder controlled by the machine and a ball bearing interacting with the bar being attached at the other end of said bearing block. The operating cylinder used is a pneumatic or hydraulic operating cylinder.
