Inductive detector (locator)

A description is given of an inductive detector with the aid of which, in addition to locating electrically conductive and/or ferromagnetic bodies (12), it is also possible to determine the depth (a) at which they lie below the hunting probe arrangement (14). By contrast with already known detectors of this type, in which the relationship between the signal voltages of two exploring coils spaced apart in the axial direction is determined, use is made here of exploring coils (18, 20) which lie together in one plane but must comprise areas of different size. <IMAGE>
