PURPOSE:To perform accurate detection little in errors, by setting up plural sensors to be installed in a cross direction so as to become closer by degrees toward the other end from one end side in order to detect width of a sheetlike member to be conveyed. CONSTITUTION:Paralleling guided reference parts 18A and 18B are attached to both sides of a film insertion table 16, and a box body 12A is attached thereto astride both these reference parts 18A and 18B so as to form a film insertion passage 14. In this box body 12A, each light emitting element 10B of plural photocouplers 10 is disposed so closely in an interval between one side of these reference parts, for example, 18A and both reference parts 18A and 18B. Corresponding to this light emitting element 10B, a light receiving element 10B is installed in a box body 12B. At the time of a film 20A of single breadth, one side of this film is made to go along the guided reference part 18A but at the time of a film 20C, it is made to go along the guide reference parts 18B, inserting it into the film insertion passage 14. With this constitution, film width is precisely detected with less photocouplers.
