PURPOSE:To eliminate the puddle break and to obtain a sheet metal having good quality by making the specific backward-inclining angle to a nozzle flowing out molten metal on a circumferential surface of a high speed rotating cooling roll and making gaps between the roll surface and the front and the back end faces of the orifice to the specific relation. CONSTITUTION:At the time of producing the rapid cooled sheet metal 7 by flowing out the molten metal on the circumferential surface of the cooling roll 2 rotating at high speed, such as 20-50 m/s of the peripheral speed, the nozzle lips 3, 4 are inclined to 5-45 deg. backward angle theta toward the roll 2 rotating direction. Further, the gap (a) between the lower end face of the nozzle front lip 3 and the roll 2 surface is formed by 0.1-1.0mm and the gap (b) with the nozzle back lip 4 is formed by more 0-0.5 mm than the gap (a). Under such a condition, in case of producing the rapid cooled sheet metal 7, the development of the puddle break caused by air suction is prevented and the above sheet metal 7 having good surface is obtd. Then, in case of making a roughness of the nozzle bottom surface to the average <= 1mum, the better quality is obtd. In drawing 1: nozzle, 5: flowing passage, 6: molten metal basin. |
