PURPOSE: To make it possible to burn fuel with high efficiency by partially burning high viscosity fuel oil and heating the other part of fuel oil by the heat developed by the partial oil combustion to generate a high density combustible gas. CONSTITUTION:The oil surface of an oil tank 2 is ignited with an ignition burner 4, and then the burner 4 is stopped. The amount of primary air 13 and the amount of air in an air introduction pipe 3 are controlled and the flame on the oil surface is held. By the heat from the flame the amount of the generated combustion gas is controlled. A high density combustion gas thus generated is sent to a secondary combustion chamber from a hole A6 or hole B7 for communication and mixed with the secondary air 14 and burns. At the same time the high density combustible gas is sent to a tertiary combustion chamber 8 from a hole C9 or a hole D10 for communication. After its complete combustion it is discharged as a flame. The communication holes A6 and C9 utilizes the suction effect due to the negative pressure developed near the respective opening. With this constitution it is possible to construct a small size, simple burner and it is possible to save energy and reduce equipment cost.
