Compounds of the formula: <CHEM> wherein: R<5> is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a hydrocarbyl group, a substituted hydrocarbyl group, a group -CH2SCN or a group -SiR<2>R<3>R<4>; and R<2>, R<3> and R<4> are independently a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbyl group or a substituted hydrocarbyl group, with the proviso that when the group R<5> is a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, a phenyl group or a group -CH2SCN, at least one of the groups R<2> or R<3> is a hydrocarbyl group or a substituted hydrocarbyl group. A biocide composition which contains at least one compound of the formula: <CHEM> wherein: R<1> is a hydrogen or a halogen atom, a hydrocarbyl group, a substituted hydrocarbyl group, a -CH2SCN group or a group -SiR<2>R<3>R<4>; and R<2>, R<3> and R<4> are independently a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbyl group or a substituted hydrocarbyl group.
