PURPOSE:To make it possible to operate continuously for a long time with stability by dividing a wind box into small air chambers by partitions provided in it and providing a damper in each small air chamber which controls the amount of pressure medium and sequentially opening and closing dampers in small air chambers with the air chamber farthest from an ash discharge pipe first and the air chamber nearest to the ash discharge pipe last to discharge fluidizing medium. CONSTITUTION:A wind box 5 which is at the lower section of a multihole plate 2 is divided into a plurality of small air chambers 23a, 23b, 23c, ... by partition plates 22 and the fluidizing air which is sent into by a blast fan 4 is supplied through a pressure medium distributing pipe 27. The amount of fluidizing air that is sent to each small air operates damper regulators 25a, 25b, 25c by the instructions from a control device 26 and adjusts the degrees of opening of dampers 24a, 24b, 24c, and the fluidizing medium in a fluidized bed boiler 1 can be discharged after it is moved from a fluidizing bed 3 to an ash discharge pipe 19 by sequentially changing air speeds starting at the small air chamber 23a which is farthest from the ash discharge pipe 19 and ending at the small air chamber 23c which is nearest to the ash discharge pipe 19.
