PURPOSE:To obtain a nonmagnetic material having >=120X10<-7>/ deg.C coefft. of thermal expansion and high wear resistance and plane workability by adding <=10% specific material to a compsn. consisting of 20-80% NiO and the balance SrTiO3 and calcining the compsn. CONSTITUTION:The nonmagnetic material formed by calcining the compsn. consisting of 20-80wt% NiO and the balance SrTiO3 can realize >=120X10<-7>/ deg.C coefft. of thermal expansion. The growth of the crystal grain size is suppressed and the decreased porosity and improved mechanical strength are obtd. if >=1 among TiO2, Al2O3, SiO2, MgO, SnO, ZrO2, Nb2O5, MnO and ZnO are added at <=10wt% into said compsn. The wear resistance and smooth surface workability as a slider material for a magnetic head are thus improved.
