PURPOSE:To execute easy quantitative determination of the deferoxamine in a soln. relating to a living body with high accuracy by processing said soln. with a high performance liquid chromatography. CONSTITUTION:Metallic ions are preferably added to the measuring soln. contg. the deferoxamine at the time of measuring with the high performance liquid chromatography. The tervalent metallic ions are preferred. The amt. of the metallic ions to be added is 0.1-1,000 times the amt. of the deferoxamine. A column to be used for the high performance liquid chromatography is preferably an anti-phase column which is more preferably chemically bound with an alkyl group of 18, 8C. Alcohols are usually used for the moving phase. A methanol is preferable as the alcohol. The soln. relating to the living body is brought into contact with the column for the high performance liquid chromatography and is eluted by using the moving phase. The absorbancy of the sample subjected to the elution and sepn. is measured, by which the amt. of the deferoxamine in the soln. is determined from a preliminarily obtd. calibration curve.
