Method for making an element for the selective extraction of a gas

A method for making an element with which to extract a gas from an environment containing at least two constituents including the gas in question, by the diffusion of this gas through a substance which is permeable solely to the gas. A thin layer (9) of permeable substance is deposited by cathode sputtering on a surface of a porous support (3) having a rigidity which is sufficient to withstand the mechanical constraints needed to provide for the diffusion of the gas through the layer (9), and wherein the porous support (3) and the permeable substance respectively constitute the anode and the cathode of the system by which the cathode sputtering can be done. The pores (10) of the porous support (3) are preferably filled before the depositing of the thin layer (9) by means of a filling product which is removed after the depositing operation. Application: the manufacture of active elements in gas generators.
