An adjustable shoulder anchorage for a vehicle seat belt system comprises a carriage 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, to which a running loop 26 is secured by a bolt 24. The carriage slides on a track 10 and is supported thereon by engagement of flanges 34, 36 of the track in grooves 40, 42 of a slidable operating member 20 of the carriage. Latching arms 16, 18 secure the carriage to the track and are each engageable at both ends 62, 64, 66, 68 with the track. Sliding movement of the operating member in either direction along the track frees the arms from engagement because of co-operation between surfaces (52, 54 in Figures 2 and 3) on the operating member and ramped surfaces 88, 90, 92, 94 on the arms. In modifications, the operating member is in two resiliently-connected parts (120a, 120b in Figure 4) and can take the form of a spring toggle (222, 228, 246 in Figure 5) linking the latching arms.
|
