PURPOSE:To reduce the speed change shock at starting, by detecting a warming-up condition, and instructing the change-over from a maximum gear ratio to a small gear ratio according to the detection by a change-over position instructing means. CONSTITUTION:According to a detection value from a warming-up condition detecting means E, a gear speed to be temporarily attained is calculated by a change-over position instructing means F, and the calculated gear speed (gear ratio) is instructed to a change-over means D. When a shift lever operation detecting means C detects the shift operation from a neutral range to a forward range, the change-over means D temporarily instructs a speed changing means B to select the calculated gear speed, and subsequently instructs the speed changing means B to select a minimum gear speed (a maximum gear ratio). Accordingly, when an engine coolant temperature is low, the change-over of speed is carried out via a high gear speed where a speed change shock is small. Therefore, a driving torque is reduced, and a speed change shock may be reduced.
