PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a solenoid valve by increasing the driving force at the moment of open valve. CONSTITUTION:A valve rod 11 for driving a valve body 7 in the open valve direction is coupled to said valve body 7. A core 21 and an exciting coil 14 fitted over the core 21 are fixed concentrically with the valve rod 11. Furthermore, an operating body 22 composed of a permanent magnet is arranged on one endface of the core 21 such that the magnetic pole having same polarity with that occurring on the endface of the core upon conduction of power to the exciting coil 14 can be contacted/separated against the operating body 22 while facing therewith. The valve body 7 is engaged with the valve rod 11 such that it is driven in the open valve direction while resisting against the resiliency of a spring 10 by the repelling force being produced against the core 21 through conduction of power to the exciting coil 14. With such arrangement, the size of the exciting coil can be reduced thus reducing the size of a solenoid valve.
