PURPOSE:To enhance gradation reproduction properties, suppress the formation of streaks or the like due to ununiform density of recorded images and perform high-quality recording, by varying the width of an energizing pulse through varying applied energy according to the scattering of the resistances of heat generating resistor elements of a thermal head. CONSTITUTION:An adding and subtracting part 7 perform calculations based on data corresponding to the resistances of heat generating resistor elements of a thermal head 1 supplied from a head data memory 6 and gradation data supplied from an image data memory 3, and outputs new gradation data to a gradation recording signal generating part 2. According to the new gradation data, the part 2 outputs a pulse signal width signal to the thermal head. For this varying ratio, a thermal head comprising n heat generating resistor elements is used. |
