PURPOSE:To obtain a thin film magnetic head with high reliability by forming the 2nd insulation pattern by a low melting point glass having a melting point over a heat temperature at the welding of a protection plate so as to facilitate the maintenance of the flatness of an upper core pattern at the welding of the protecting plate. CONSTITUTION:The 1st insulation pattern 2 made of SiO2 or the like is formed on a base 1 being a lower core, and after a spiral coil pattern 3 is formed on the pattern 2, the 2nd insulation pattern is formed by a low melting point glass 11. Then the low melting point glass 11 is formed flat with a uniform film thickness while the base 1 is placed on a spinner S under high temperature inactive gas atmospheric furnace F, the spinner is rotated and the glass 11 is dropped from a heat melting tank T. Since the glass 11 has a melting point of nearly 500-750 deg.C, even when the glass is heated in fixing the protecting plate 7, the glass is neither denatured nor deformed. Thus, the flatness of the upper core pattern 5 is maintained. |
