PURPOSE:To prevent 'lifting' from occurring in a base material for a printing ribbon for a thermal transfer printer and obtain an excellent printing ribbon, by coating one side of a polyester film with a releasing agent, depositing a metallic layer thereon by vacuum deposition, providing a thin film of a polyurethane resin thereon by coating, and releasing the polyester film. CONSTITUTION:One side of a polyester film is coated with a liquid containing cellulose diacetate to provide a releasing layer. A vacuum-deposited aluminum layer is provided on the release-coated surface by an ordinary method, and a layer of a polyurethane resin containing carbon black is provided thereon by coating to obtain a thin film coated film having a vapor-deposited metallic layer to be used as a base material for a printing ribbon. A desired printing ribbon can be obtained by releasing the polyester film. Since vacuum deposition is not applied to the coated layer of the polyurethane resin but is applied to the release-coated surface, the so-called 'lifting' does not occur, and vapor deposition with favorable adhesion can be achieved. |
