PURPOSE:To sharply shorten the time required for processing the management of the use, nonuse, etc., of a data buffer, by providing a storage means which stores the used state information of the data buffer and realizing a specific constitution. CONSTITUTION:A storage means (register) for storing the used state information indicating the used state of each data buffer is provided in corresponding with plural pieces (n pieces) of data buffers. The used stated information in the storage means is referred to in response to a using request of the data buffers and one of the data buffers corresponding to the information indicating a vacant state is set to the data buffer to be used and, at the same time, the used state information in the storage means 1 corresponding to the data buffer to be used is used as the using information and the used state information in the storage means 1 is used as information indicating the vacant state in response to the completion of the use of the data buffer. Since the management of the transmitting and receiving data buffers is carried out by means of hardware only in such way, the number of data buffer to be used next can be found almost instantaneously.
