Copper molybdenum salts as antioxidants

The combination of copper and molybdenum salts is shown to be an effective antioxidant and anti-wear additive for hydrocarbons, such as lube oils. Accordingly the present invention is directed to a lube oil having improved oxidation stability, providing improved wear protection with reduced friction and comprising: A. a basestock, and B. an effective amount of a copper salt and a molybdenum salt.
