PURPOSE:To form a sliding contact member having a sliding surface which is improved in an initial fitting characteristic and wear resistance by forming a composite molybdenum layer dispersed with solid lubricating agent particles on the sliding surface consisting of a hard layer. CONSTITUTION:The composite layer 3c of the molybdenum dispersed with the particles 3 of the solid lubricating agent is formed on the sliding surface consisting of the hard layer 3f of the sliding contact member having the sliding surface with other members such as the rotor housing of a rotary piston engine to constitute the inside peripheral face 3a of the housing. Graphite, fluoroplastic, molybdenum bisulfide, etc. are used as the solid lubricating agent. The mixing ratio thereof is specified to about 10-55% and the thickness of the composite layer 3c is specified to about 10-30mu. The surface hardness of the hard layer 3f is usually specified to about 0.2-0.7 Ra. The initial fitting characteristic and wear resistance of the sliding surface to a sliding member are thereby improved. |
