PURPOSE:To manufacture continuously cast billet in a high yield of product, by using a heated mold and by carrying out cold or warm working and then heat treatment at a specific temp. at the time of subjecting a molten Cu alloy containing a carbide-stabilzing element such as Cr, Zr, etc., to continuous casting in a mold made of graphite. CONSTITUTION:The molten Cu alloy 3 containing 0.1-1.2% Cr or 0.05-0.5% Zr as carbide-stabilizing elements is poured into a horizontal continuous casting mold 1 made of graphite, which is drawn out of the outlet 1a of the mold in the form of a continously cast billet and then is cooled by cooling means 6. At this time, the continous casting mold is heated by means of heaters 2, 5 up to the solidification temp. of Cu alloy or above, so that solidification of the molten metal 3 is not complete in the mold 1 and, as a result, drawing incapability due to the friction between the mold and the continuously cast billet can be prevented at the time of drawing the continuously cast billet. After that, the continuously cast billet is bold-worked or warm-worked at >=50% draft to undergo strength improvement and is then heated at 350-700 deg.C to undergo sufficient age precipitation, so that electric conductivity can be satisfactorily recovered. |
