PURPOSE:To remarkably improve critical current density as a superconducting wire by subjecting an Nb-Ti alloy or a composite wire containing Nb-Ti alloy to cold working and then to heat treatment and cold working under respectively specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:The Nb-Ti alloy containing 63atom% Ti is subjected to cold wiredraw ing to be formed into a superconducting wire, which is heat-treated at 380-440 deg.C for >=50hr, particularly at 410-430 deg.C for 60-80hr, followed by cold wiredrawing at >=80%, particularly >=90%, reduction in area. In this way, critical current density as a superconducting wire can be improved to a greater extent than therefore.
