PURPOSE:To obtain safe reversing of a vehicle even by a beginner by disposing in the rear portion of a vehicle compartment indicating means for indicating the steering direction of a front wheel steering mechanism corresponding to the reversing direction of the vehicle in response to driving force generated in accordance with the steering angle of the front wheel steering mechanism. CONSTITUTION:There is provided an angle sensor 10 which outputs, in form of angle voltage indicating the steering angle, a d.c. voltage proportional to a resistance of a resistor variable in response to the rotational angle of a steering shaft of a vehicle. The output signal from the angle sensor 10 is inputted into a driving voltage generating circuit 20, which is turn generates driving voltages V1, V2 directly proportional to and inversely proportional to the angle voltage, respectively. These driving voltages V1, V2 are respectively outputted to a pair of coils 31, 32 of a cross coil type gage 30 of an analog indicating instrument M disposed at such a position in the rear portion of a vehicle compartment as to cause no hindrance to rearward visibility. For reversing, a steering handle h is so steered as to direct a pointer P movable in accordance with the strength of the magnetic field generated by each coil 32, 32 toward a desired position.
