PURPOSE:To attain positioning only by inputting the coordinate position of a body to be moved by controlling a motor based on the difference between the coordinate position to which said body is moved and that detected by an absolute encoder. CONSTITUTION:A signal specifying which optical disk cassette 20 is loaded on an optical disk device 13 is inputted to a main controller 1. In a main controller 11, a specified position address signal Zb showing the prescribed position to which a carriage 25 is moved according to the signal, that is, the desired coordinate position of the optical disk cassette 20, is outputted. The specified position address signal Zb is inputted to a subtractor 35 through a specified position address input means 34. On the other hand, a current position address signal Za showing the present coordinate position of the carriage 25 is inputted from the absolute encoder 33. The signal Za is subtracted from the signal Zb, and the result is inputted to a speed/position control circuit 36.
