PURPOSE:To enable exact sepn. and analysis of an ammonium ion even if a potassium ion exists in a liquid to be measured by using a column in which a prescribed soln. and cation exchange resin are packed as an eluate at the time of separating the ammonium ion and potassium ion with a sepn. column. CONSTITUTION:The eluate in a tank 1 storing a cysteine hydrochloric acic soln. (5mmol/l) is passed through the sepn. column 4 packed with the cation exchange resin via connecting ports 3a, 3b of a sampling valve 3 and is discharged into a tank 6 when a pump 3 is driven. The liquid to be measured contg. the ammonium ion and potassium ion fills the ports 3e, 3b when said liquid is injected through the port 3d of the valve 3. The liquid to be measured flows to the column 4 upon changing over of the valve 3 to the broken line state. The potassium ion is separated in said column and is conducted to the detector 5, by which the electrical conductivity is detected. The ammonium ion is thus exactly analyzed.
