NEW MATERIAL:A sulfamoyl benzoic acid derivative of formula I (R1 is Cl or phenoxy; R2 is H, halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, lower alkoxycarbonyl, acetyloxy, cyano, hydroxyl, carboxyl, diacetylamino or dialkylamino; R3 is H or methyl). EXAMPLE:4-Chloro-N-[4-(2-pyridyl)-1-piperazinyl]-3-sulfamoylbenzamide. USE:The compound exhibits diuretic and hypotensive activities and is useful as a medicine. Diuretic effect can be surely attained by a single dose. It has low toxicity. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a sulfamoylbenzoic acid compound of formula II or its reactive derivative with a piperazine derivative of formula III in a solvent (e.g. chloroform) in the presence of a condensation agent (e.g. N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide). |
