PURPOSE:To speedily carry out the desired gear shift by generating a strong attracting force by allowing the electric current over a rated value to flow temporarily in the solenoid of a solenoid valve and speedily moving a plunger in reciprocation. CONSTITUTION:The captioned operating device is constituted of the first cylinder 2 for shift operation, second cylinder 3 for selection operation, and solenoid valves 5-8 for feeding and discharging the compressed air in an air tank 4 into the cylinders 2 and 3 which are arranged at right angles each other on the upper surface of a speed change gear 1. The solenoid valves 5-8 are controlled by a control unit 9, and the desired gear shift is performed. When the signal supplied from an instruction unit 10 is high H (operating signal), the output of a transistor becomes ON, and the electric current over a rated value flows in a solenoid, and a plunger is attracted strongly, and the solenoid valves 5-8 are operated, and the compressed air is supplied into the cylinders 2 and 3, and the desired gear shift is started speedily.
