PURPOSE:To simplify the carrying device for a recording element by using a light spot of a laser light subjected to intensity modulation by an information signal being an object of recording and a light spot of the laser light without any modulation so as to obtain a tracking error signal. CONSTITUTION:The light spot S1 of the laser light subjected to intensity modulation from a semiconductor laser 21 is recorded to a recording layer of an information recording disk D through a polarization prism 25, a 1/4 wavelength plate 26 and a dichroic mirror or the like. On the other hand, the light spot S2 of the laser light without any modulation from a semiconductor laser 22 is projected onto the midpoint between two recording tracks formed on the disk D by the light spot S1 and then recorded. Then the light spot S2 reflected from the disk D is fed to a detection system 29, from which a tracking error signal is obtained. Based on the error signal, the tracking control is applied. Thus, the carrying device for the recording element is simplified.
