PURPOSE:To prevent the flocculation of a coating material and to uniformly disperse said material by passing a coated tape through an atmosphere furnace adjusted to specific humidity, then drying the tape. CONSTITUTION:The atmosphere furnace 12 adjusted to <=60% humidity is provided before a drying furnace 7. The coating material for a surface treatment is supplied from a coating nozzle 4 to a polyester film 11 set to, for example, an un-winder 1. After the coating thickness is adjusted, the film past the furnace 12 is dried in the furnace 7 and is taken up by a winder 10. The coating of a lubricant to a vapor deposited metallic surface or the formation of a back coat layer can be executed in addition to the surface treatment. The coating material is uniformly dispersed without flocculating if the above-mentioned device is used, and therefore, the fluctuation of the RF output and drop-out are decreased.
