PURPOSE:To correct a bearing of a vehicle by calculating an error vector from the average of the total sum of a 1st bearing vector of a reference and a 2nd bearing vector in the direction at an angle of 180 deg. with the first vector and taking a difference between said vector and an optional bearing vector. CONSTITUTION:A terrestrial magnetism bearing is resolved in the orthogonal biaxial directions by a vehicle sensor. When the vehicle is not magnetized, the vector Vr indicated by the outputs X and Y of the sensors draws a circle Cr. It is assumed here that the magnetic flux density of the terrestrial magnetism, the output coefficient of the sensors and the angle between the sensor winding and the terrestrial magnetism are denoted by B, K and theta respectively. When magnetized, the magnetic flux densities Bex and Bey are superimposed upon the outputs X and Y which are made X' and Y' and the locus of the vector VR indicates a circle CR and the vector Ve having components KBex and KBey is the azimuth error vector and the vector VR corrected by reducing the vector Ve from the azimuth vector VR is obtained. The bearing detection which is hardly influenced by the terrestrial magnetism can be performed by this constitution.
