PURPOSE:To surely decide the counter light state by measuring distance zones where the existence of an object is detected in plural range finding areas in a photographic range. CONSTITUTION:With respect to plural range finding areas in the photographic range, a range finding means measures distance zones where the existance of the object is detected. With respect to the same light measuring areas as range finding areas, a photometric means measures the luminance of the object. A distance zone determining mans determines distance zones, where the existence of a principal object is detected, on a basis of measured results of the range finding means. If the number of range finding areas where determined distance zones are detected is one or the range finding area includes the center part of the photographic range, A rear light discriminating means discriminate whether the difference between the measured result of the light measuring area corresponding to this range finding area and an average value of measured results of light measuring areas in the whole of the photographic range is larger than a prescribed value or not, and the rear light state is decided if it is larger than the prescribed value. If said number is two or more or range finding areas do not include the center part of the photographic range, the rear light state is not decided. |
