PURPOSE:To attain the read/write of magnetic stripes in two orthogonal directions by providing a mechanism driving a magnetic head applying read/ write in a direction orthogonal to the progressing direction of a medium into a direction orthogonal to the progressing direction of the medium. CONSTITUTION:When a bank book 7 is halted by a feed roller 8 while being led by a magnetic stripe reader/writer, a drive motor 6 is driven to drive a drive shaft 4. Thus, the magnetic head 1 is driven while being guided by a guide shaft 5 to read/write information to/from a magnetic stripe 9. When the magnetic head 1 reaches the end of the magnetic stripe 9, the motor 6 is reversed and the head 1 is restored to the home position. Then a rotary solenoid 2 is operated, the head 1 is turned by 90 deg. and the bank book 7 is progressed toward the direction Y by the roller 8. Thus, the information is written/read in/to the magnetic stripe 10. |
