PURPOSE:A drug composition useful as a remedy for pollakisuria having no side effect, containing an extract of leaves of ginkgo as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:A drug composition containing an extract of leaves of ginkgo as an active ingredient. Many old people suffer from pollakisuria and it is considered that senile pollakisuria often results from reduction in volume of the bladder brought about especially by anrophy of the bladder. The composition contains the extract of leaves of ginkgo obtained from leaves of ginkgo in a green state, the extract contains various active ingredients including flavonoids and it is estimated that blood circulation is improved and the bladder undergoing atrophy is returned to the normal bladder by taking the extract continuously and times of urination are reduced. The extract is obtained by extracting green leaves of ginkgo with an organic solvent (e.g. acetone) miscible with water at 40-100 deg.C. No side effect is observed even by taking the extract continuously for a long period. |
