PURPOSE:To execute a measurement at high speed by taking only the read of the beginning and the end of a measuring wavelength range as for the wavelength, and thereafter, inputting only an optical intensity. CONSTITUTION:An output signal related to an optical intensity from a detector 7 is read by a CPU through an A/D converter 21. When it is detected that said signal has come to an initial position 27, by an output pulse from an initial position detecting photointerrupter 26, wavelength sending is executed therefrom, and also, an output pulse from a photointerrupter 25 is counted by a counter 23, wavelength sending is stopped temporarily at a start point of a wavelength area to be measured, and simultaneously, the counter 23 is reset. Subsequently, a measurement is started again therefrom. As a wavelength driving shaft rotates, the number of output pulses from the interrupter 26 is counted by the counter 23. Next, when a value of the counter 23 has reached a prescribed area, the wavelength sending and measurement are ended. When the measurement has been ended, an arithmetic processing is executed in accordance with the number of data which have been stored in the inside of the CPU during that time, and the measured wavelength area, and a spectrum between the measuring wavelengths is obtained by deriving the corresponding wavelength of each sampling data.
