PURPOSE:To improve energy radiation efficiency by forming on the surface of a multi-hole plate provided in front of a combustion wick a metal oxide in the form of a covering film so that the peak value of the radiation energy from the multi-hole plate will fall in the wave length area of a heat-resistant glass which has an excellent optical transmission. CONSTITUTION:Multi-hole plates 2 and 3 are provided in front of and at the rear of a combustion wick 1, and further on the front side of the multi-hole plate 2 a heat resistant light transmitting plate 4 such as heat resistant glass is provided. When the surface of the multi-hole 2 on the front side is covered with a metal oxide which contains Fe2O3, etc., the peak value of the radiation energy from the multi-hole plate 2 is shifted to near infrared rays of a short wave lengths. If the amount of the metal oxide 5 that is applied is adjusted so that the peak value of the radiation energy falls in the range that is below 2.7mum at which the optical transmission of the heat resistant glass 4 is good, the radiation efficiency of a burner as a whole becomes better.
