PURPOSE:To decide the direction of a plane in a simple and accurate way by rotating a specific plane to undergo decision of its direction based on the distances between four points on said specific plane and a reference plane measured vertically to the specific plane. CONSTITUTION:A distance measuring device is provided to obtain the distance between those points A and B as well as C and D set on two straight lines M and N which are orthogonal to each other at a point O on a specific plane P and a plane Q measured vertically to the plane P from said four points. Then the distance between both points A and B and the plane Q are defined as (a) and (b) with a distance (m) defined between both points A and B respectively. Under such conditions, a rotational axis is set parallel to the line N around which the plane P can be rotated in the direction where both distances (a) and (b) are equal to each other at an angle alpha that defines (a-b)/m as a tangent. At the same time, another rotational axis is set in parallel to the line M round which the plane P can be rotated in the direction where both distances (c) and (d) are equal to each other at an angle beta that defines (c-d)/n as a tangent, where the distances between both points C and D and the plane Q are defined as (c) and (d) with a distance (n) defined between points C and D respectively. Thus the plane P is rotated round both rotational axes at angles alpha and beta.
