PURPOSE:To form a sintered rare earth magnet of high performance safely without causing a decline in the performance due to oxidation or residual carbon by adding a specified quantity of saturated aliphatic carboxylic acid, unsaturated aliphatic carboxylic acid, and a compound having a specified thermal decomposition temperature among the above inductors in specified rare earth magnet powder as a lubricant. CONSTITUTION:In a rare earth magnetic powder whose basic composition consists of a rare earth metal, Fe and B, a saturated aliphatic carboxylic acid, unsaturated aliphatic carboxylic acid, and a lubricant consisting of one kind or combination of plural kinds of compounds having a thermal decomposition temperature of 300 deg.C or lower under the atmospheric pressure among the above inductors are added within a range of 0.2-4.0 wt.%. Those are molded by powder metallurgy, followed by sintering. Thus, it becomes possible to form a high-quality sintered rare earth magnet safely and steadily by use of low-price equipments. In this case, if a load of the lubri cant is 0.2 wt.%, an orientation degree of the magnet will decrease or the wear of a molding die will occur. If the load is over 4.0 wt.%, degreasing is not performed perfectly and a concentration of carbon of the rare earth magnet increases, resulting in an exceeding decline in magnetic performance. |
