PURPOSE:To improve a seaming operability and sealing performance and prevent the vertical crack of a cover hook by causing the slippage at small gap in the peripheral direction at the part of the outer side and the part of the inner side from the apex of a double seaming part by the edge end located at the outer side of the overlapping joining part of the plate stock for a can. CONSTITUTION:The layer of a thermal adhesive 5 composed of a thermoplastic resin is provided with its adhesion on the inner face of the end part 2 becoming the seam outer part of the plate stock 1 for a can, and even on the end part 3 becoming the seam inner part the layer of the thermal adhesive 5 composed of a thermoplastic resin is adhered in the shape of wrapping an edge 7. With the integration of these thermal adhesive layer 4 and 5 with fusion the side part overlapping joining is performed. On the outer side end part 2 to be overlapped and joined a gapped part 9 with smaller gap than that of the outer side end part 2 is provided at the upper side than the position P becoming the apex of the seaming part. In this way, an abrupt step difference is relaxed with the plate composition varying at the step difference part of the seaming part, the seaming and sealing performances are improved and the generation of the vertical crack on the cover hook is prevented.
