PURPOSE:To enhance an ink platen in durability and to enable a sharp printing to be kept for a long period of time, by a method wherein the ink platen runs in a printing line's direction together with a printing head while varying its relative position to the printing head in a printing line's direction and in a printing paper feeding direction. CONSTITUTION:An ink platen 1 is; rotatably held through a bearing 5 by a hold body 4 being slidably set onto a shaft 3, slidably mounted on a square shaft 6, and rotated due to the rotation of the square shaft 6. With an actuation of a motor 12, a printing head 7, being held by a carriage 8 and the holding body 4, and the platen 1 synchronously move to conduct printing on a printing paper 11. At this time, since a pulley 13 is made larger than a pulley 14 in diameter, the platen 1 is travelled in a printing line's direction together with the printing head 7 while varying its relative position to the printing head 7. On the other hand, the ink platen 1 is travelled in a feeding direction of the printing paper 11 due to the rotation of the square shaft 6 by the motor.
