MENU SELECTING AND PROCESSING SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To easily designate plural items and to decrease malfunctions by displaying a control box showing execution and cancel of the processing corresponding to a menu together with said menu and separating the selection of menu items from an indicating operation for execution of selected items. CONSTITUTION:A pull-down menu 34 is displayed in response to an indicated menu when a button of a pointing device PD is pushed in such a state where the pull-down menu is not displayed yet with a cursor 33 indicating a menu 32. Here the item corresponding to the initially selected item number stored in the 1st field is displayed 37 with emphasis together with the control boxes 38 and 39 showing execution and cancel of the menu. Under such conditions, the cursor 33 is shifted to a desired item and the button of the PD is pushed. Thus the relevant item is displayed with emphasis and this item number is stored in the 2nd field. Then the cursor 33 is set at the execution 39 and the PD button is pushed. Thus the item corresponding to the number stored in the 2nd field is executed.
