PURPOSE:To permit stable automatic building-up of a cobalt alloy by linearly moving the build-up part of a guide bar formed to have a horseshoe shape in a manner as to permit flat down welding up to the position past the prescribed distance, then rotating the bar. CONSTITUTION:Building-up is executed by fixing the center 2 of a welding torch and linearly moving the guide bar 1 of a chain saw up to the point where the center of the arc part passes the prescribed distance (a) from the start point of building-up of the 1st straight part 6. The arc part is then rotated by a prescribed angle and the building-up is executed; thereafter, the 2nd straight part 7 is linearly moved and the building-up is executed up to the end point. The center of the arc part is, therefore, shifted by the distance (a), by which the build-up part is brought into the down position and is stabilized. The 2nd straight part is similarly brought into the down position. The stable and satisfactory automatic building-up of the cobalt alloy which is heretofore considered difficult is thus executed.
